Meet Chrissie Nelson Rotko, the writer and photographer behind the food and travel blog Off the Eaten Path.
Chrissie created her blog Off the Eaten Path in 2013 to combine her love of food and writing. Off the Eaten Path not only gave Chrissie a creative outlet from her full time work (she has been an Assistant Public defender for almost nine years), but also gave her the opportunity to explore and get to know Charlotte's growing food scene. As her blog grew, Chrissie began adding easy entertaining recipes and expanding started as and as a way to get to know the growing food scene in Charlotte. Over the years, Off the Eaten Path grew and evolved, and now features North Carolina travel guides and easy entertaining recipes.
When she's not writing or taking photos of her kitchen creations, Chrissie loves visiting local restaurants and craft breweries, taking weekend road trips and traveling, nurturing her growing plant collection, and spending time outdoors, especially gardening, hiking, and hanging out at the beach.
Chrissie's cookbook, Stunning Spreads: Easy Entertaining with Cheese, Charcuterie, Fondue and Other Shared Fare, is filled with 75 recipes for approachable appetizers and simple, seasonal cocktails that are sure to be showstoppers at your next gathering.
All of the recipes can be easily prepped and cooked ahead of time, so when guests arrive, the focus can be on them instead of the food. What Chrissie really wanted to do with her book was to show her readers that entertaining doesn’t have to be intimidating or overwhelming, and to give them the confidence to create delicious food for family and friends.
