Meet Bree Basham. Bree is has her Level 3 Award in Wine & Spirits from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and is a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW). She blends her love of food, wine, modern design, art, interiors, and travel in a lifestyle blog called the Modifica.

    Meet Bree:

Bree Basham is a Charlotte local (one of the few!), and the creator of the Modifica. Her blog is dedicated to a lifestyle around wine and food, modern design and interiors, style, and travel.

She started blogging to write about the things she loves and for a way to connect to others with similar interests. Among other things, you can expect to find lots of recipes – mostly vegetarian and pescatarian!

Also, plenty of wine recommendations, tips for learning more about wine, and recommendations for wine travel. Cheers!

    A Little Taste of Modifica:

Bree loves to share her favorite North Carolina eats on her blog. Here are some of her reader's favorite posts:

A fall version of everyone’s go-to appetizer. Baked brie is simple, but classic for a reason! In this rendition, chopped walnuts and crunchy pistachios pair with warm figs. The thyme adds a beautiful color and depth, and the salted honey adds that touch of sweetness. This is easy to throw together and makes a beautiful plate!

    10 Wine and Cheese Pairings

10 wine and cheese pairings that represent just how complementary these two wonderful things can be! A cheese board should be diverse, and some of my favorites are below to combine on a big tasting board, or just try one-on-one with the wines. I paired each cheese up with one of my favorite wines, if you are looking for recs.

Shredded Kale and Brussels Sprout Salad with Lemon Dressing

This salad combines all the things! Kale, brussels sprouts, smoky toasted almonds, and of course, salty Parmesan cheese. The delicious lemon dressing has a slight sweetness to it and really brings all the flavors together with a bright finish. Like most kale salads, this saves well until you are ready to eat it.

    Mezze Grazing Board

Grazing boards of all sorts and shapes are my ultimate way of eating and entertaining. A yummy Mediterranean mezze board filled with pita bread, dips, fresh vegetables, falafel, and cheese is perfect for your next gathering. And this could not be easier to make!
