SouthPark hot spot Baku recently hosted the Charlotte Food Bloggers for a night of dinner and drinks. (In case you always wondered about the name, Baku is a mythical Asian creature that devours people’s nightmares.) We got to work devouring a variety of the Japanese cuisine Baku is known for, including the calamari, spicy hamachi crispy rice treat, pork belly skewer, and sushi.

In addition to the great food, Baku boasts a terrific Sake program. Owner Birdie Yang is a Level II Advanced Sake Professional – fewer than 200 people in the world hold this designation – and over 75 varieties on the menu make Baku’s sake selection the largest in southeast.

Stop in for dinner on Tuesdays to try a Sake flight and take advantage of bottle discounts. And take a look at what Charlotte Food Bloggers’ Yvonne and Jason had to say about their dining experiences at Baku.
